Life Connection Church along with Main Squeeze Juice and Smoothies has signed up as a team for the Relay For Life Cancer Walk. This event is for honoring cancer survivors, paying tribute to the lives lost to the disease and raising money to fight cancer. Many in our church and many more in our community have been impacted by the devastating effects of this disease. As a church we are called to have compassion and to minister to the broken hearted. Psalms 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all, he has compassion on all he has made.” Our hearts should be filled with compassion which moves us to action.
Our church is is committed to being relevant in our community. An important aspect to that is supporting our community events and not just our own events. So I challenge all of you to respond out of a giving and compassionate heart. We have a goal of raising $5,000. So donate, come out and walk with us so we can demonstrate God’s heart for the lost, the sick and broken hearted. What an opportunity for us to demonstrate God’s love and speak truth into lives.

Thoughts

I have a lot of strange thoughts. The people that know me can attest to that! Ever since we started this hospitality series it has been messing with my thoughts and causing me to view life through a different lens. Hospitality is a lens through which we can read and understand much of the gospels. When you look at how the church was built in Acts 2:46 you can see it was built on the backs of people who practiced Hospitality and opened their doors and their lives to the church and the unsaved. You look at Mark 6:7-13 Jesus had a plan and a method for evangelism get into a house in every city, if you can not find a home that will welcome you then shake the dust off and leave the city. The house was the key to winning the city!
Jesus was constantly where people where and in people’s lives. So put that lens on and think about how the gospel is being preached today… The gospel is mainly preached in pulpits and where church people are and not where “real” people are. Jesus spent most of his ministry out with people in their homes, in their boats, in their streets, basically in their lives. Sure He spoke in the temple but most of the time he did not get that great of a welcome. For some reason Jesus was more interested in being in the lives of people then in the pulpits of all the major temples.
I don’t know but I was just thinking maybe we have lost focus… Maybe we should spend more time where people are and less time hiding from them.
