Stir is a day that we set aside once a month to pray and fast together as a church and we are asking God to stir us up.  We gather together for a corporate time of prayer at 6 – 8 pm at the connection building. “I would rather have more of God’s grace than my problems removed”

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

More than ever before I think people can relate to this verse. We feel beat down, trudging though life, with no real hope on the horizon. Some of us find it hard to pay the bills, or even find a job, even though we are doing all that we can.  Nothing seems to be working, and it’s hard to find the strength to even keep going. They ask, “What’s the point in going on?”

Some try to please God, and yet despite their effort they don’t feel connected to Him at all. Discouragement, doubt, division, hopelessness, and bitterness begin to take root.  More than ever we need encouragement.  It’s wonderful to know that Jesus said we should not worry about tomorrow, for today is filled with enough troubles (Matt 6:34).

What’s so amazing about that verse is that right before it says; “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.”

The most important factor is to “FIX” or “SET” your attention on God, and his ways. God is good. His Kingdom is FAIR, JUST, and HOLY. He sees your problems and difficulties. When we set our attention on HIM we are renewed by hope and faith. He may choose not to “remove” the obstacle, but he can give us more grace to go through the challenge.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Paul prays for God to “remove this thorn from my side”. God response was that His grace is sufficient for him, and that His power is made perfect in weakness.  I would rather have more of God’s grace than my problems removed.

Imagine that you are in a canoe on a small river, as you are traveling downstream you come to a MAJOR obstacle. You see that there is a huge 4 foot boulder that is sticking up out of the river that is blocking your path. You pray “Lord remove this boulder.” Yes he is able to remove it, but what if He chooses to raise the water level 4 feet instead.  That is an example of His grace abounding more in times of trouble.

When times bring major “boulders” in my life I have never seen God remove them the way I think He should. He always works them through in ways I can’t figure out. By doing this it builds my faith in greater ways and reminds me to keep my eyes on Him more than my problems.

Imagine yourself looking through a scope or binoculars. As you put the binoculars up to your eyes, your vision shifts and you are only able to see where to binoculars are aimed. By aiming your sights on God and His Kingdom you are renewed by His love, power and purpose. You are not able to see all that is around you, all that you can see what’s in focus. His Kingdom is in order and running smooth. Set your clock to his time zone, and your thoughts to His Kingdom.  Your true citizenship is in Heaven.

Col 3:1-2 “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God’s right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth.”

I think of the song “Turn your eye upon Jesus” It says that as we look full in His wonderful grace the “things” of earth grow strangely dim in the light of his wonder and grace.

Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

As will give our attention to God He will protect and guard your mind from all sorts of thoughts and worries.

1 Corinthians 3:19 “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” He’s kingdom operates differently than human understanding. The key word is to be in tune with God, not listening only to man’s words, and opinions. Remember that everyone has advice to give you.  But in your weakness and humility lean on God. He is you first and only option.

2 Cor 3:5 “It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.”

Get ready and be excited about how God’s grace will intervene in your life to cause you to grow in your faith.

The purpose of post encounter is to solidify the decisions that you made during your encounter weekend by giving you tools to grow. Post encounter is a 8-session class held online at your own pace. The classes are taught by a variety of teachers and there is no cost to you.

Post encounter also must be completed by those who are planning on becoming members of Life Connection Church. As a reminder the membership steps are:

I thought this would be a great resource for all who are wanting to learn more about what these Gospel Communities are and how they practically work.  This would be a great resource for all of us to download and walk through the only thing you would have to change is the name of the church from Veritas to Life Connection.

I am currently reading a book called Tangible Kingdom. At times, as I read, I am feeling challenged and convicted; at other times I feel puzzled and confused.  Although this book is so far, in so many ways, from my former ministry experience, I love the challenge and it is causing me to think and grow in many ways.  I would love to read this book with some people and have a discussion about it because I have a lot of thoughts I’d like to filter through.  I wanted to use some thoughts from this book as my first equipping for the Prophets and Teachers of our Gospel Communities.  So, anyone can read this and comment, but I really would love to hear from specifically Prophets and Teachers.  I will give you a few quotes from the book and then some of my thoughts:

“Posture represents attitude of the body: the nonverbal forms of communication that accompany what we say.  As you may remember learning in your freshman interpersonal communication class, the nonverbals are more informative and honest than the verbal forms of communication.”

“Words communicate what we know; posture represents what we believe and feel.”

“Sometimes I wonder how we got to this point.  Why did the pagan onlookers hold the early church in such high respect, but today’s non-Christians view the modern-day church with such disdain? I think one of the main culprits has to be our paradigm of evangelism.  In the name of “getting someone saved,” we have primarily focused on communicating a message of truth to the world.  There’s nothing wrong with that, except that we’ve prioritized the verbals over the nonverbals, the message over the method, that is to say, the proclamation over the posture. We assume that if we can just get the idea across, then it will be up to the person to respond, whether we do it correctly or not.  Maybe we also think that in order to get God’s approving glance, it’s our duty to share “truth,” even if our modus operandi is “obnoxious for Jesus… and loving it.”

What he ends up addressing is a valid problem in the church.  I was thinking how great this applies to our Gospel Communities – these are really a place where the teachers and prophets need to care about the non-verbals.  We need to be willing to communicate the gospel but we need to be willing to posture ourselves so the people who are listening will receive what we are saying.

1 Peter 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

This verse puts emphasis on the posture of honoring Christ. When you are honoring Christ people are going to have a question about the hope that is in you, and you need to always be ready to give an answer.  These are the greatest teaching opportunities: the times that people are asking to learn, and you, because of your life and relationship, have shown that you know what you are talking about.

The authors of Tangible Kingdom, say to the people in their network, “We suggest to them that if people aren’t asking about their lives, then we haven’t postured our faith well enough or long enough”

So here is the point of all this for me and how I think this will help us in training as prophets/teachers in these Gospel Communities.  We know that we need to be talking about Jesus a lot in these groups but I do not want us to miss the power of the non-verbals.  I think what we can learn from 1 Peter 3:15, is that as a teacher in a Gospel community, we need to be prepared at all times to give an answer.  We may not have had the time to prepare an outline or curriculum, but our best teaching times may be when someone sees our lives together as a community and wants to know about the hope that is in us.  Then with gentleness and respect we need to be able to preach the gospel.

So the practical steps to this are, if we are teachers/prophets and want to use that gift in our Gospel Communities what must we do to be prepared in season and out?

1. Have a regular consistent time of reading/studying the Bible.

2. Be reading a book or training materiel to be sharpen your understanding

3. Be writing in a journal all your notes, revelations, and teaching ideas.

4. Be praying the Holy Spirit will give you opportunities to teach, that you would be bold enough to present it, and humble enough to have the right posture.

Ok guys lets all meditate on 1 Peter 3:15 and I would like all of you to send me a comment back on what God taught you out of this text and how it can make you a better teacher/prophet in your Gospel Community

Our kids are separated into four classes so that they can get the attention and learning level they need to grow in the Lord.  Nursery is for our youngest ones-18 months, toddlers is 18 months-3 years old,  primary is 3-kindergarten, and kids church is 1st-4th grade.  Our teachers aren’t in the class to babysit during a service but to serve our kids and and see them fall in love with Jesus at an early age! They are each trained to teach the specific age they are serving.  We take the time to do background checks on every volunteer and are working towards having every volunteer CPR trained!

Jesus honored childhood by being born as a baby and we recognize the value that He puts on children throughout the Word so we don’t take Kids Connection Church lightly.  We love and serve our children!

Connection group questions:

This series has really challenged me and this fast really opened my eyes to an error in the thinking of this church.  Many people, including myself, were having a hard time asking God for good things that they felt as if they did not deserve, therefore trying to carry the punishment for themselves and diminishing the work of Jesus and the gospel.  We know that God is sovereign and in control but do we believe that He is good and merciful?  A good and loving Father who we can run to for everything?  I think this error in our thinking has effected our worship, prayer, and faith.  Today we spent time just praying and asking God for good things, not that we deserve it or that He has not already done enough for us, but that we believe that our God is good and His mercy endures forever.  We are going to continue asking Him for grace and kindness.  We had so many people coming up for prayer today crying and asking for God to show up in their lives and asking for miracles, healings, restoration, provision, peace, and the list could go on.  I thank God for the good and gracious things He did this week and I know that something has been stirred in me so I want to run to him for continued grace.  Thank you for being a good and merciful God. 

My prayer for this church is that we would get a bigger picture of God.  In the connection groups we are going to be spending time in prayer for each other and just asking for God to meet you at the point of your need.  Then we will also be talking about a few other thoughts concerning these things.  Look over these questions think about them and when you go to your connection groups we will discuss them.

(1) How do you view God?

(2) Do you believe your view of God effects your prayer life and worship?

(3) Do you know God is good and that He loves you?

(4) What are somethings that you are having a hard time trusting God for?

(5) What can your group be praying about for you?

Really think through these questions and in your groups you will be tackling some of these topics.  Bless you and make sure to stay connected in your groups.  If you do not have a group check the web page for days and times.  See you sunday as we start a new series.

Philippians 1

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

This verse really hit me this week.  The Love that Paul had for that church was deep and he always prayed for them with joy because of there partnership.  He said he had them in there heart.  I have to say that I was truly touched by this an encouraged because I really feel this way about the people God has put in my life.  The partnership that I get to have with the people in this house to carry out gospel is one that I am blessed to have.  I thank God for you!  I love the partners that God has given to me and I want you to know that you are in my heart.

I also want to encourage you with verse six as I was encouraged he who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it.  We have to know if God is author he will finish it.  If He is the one who began it then He will finish it.  We need to put our faith in Jesus and the unity that He has brought into this house by the spirit and watch Him carry out in us the vision that He started.  

I love you and thank you for partnering with me in the gospel and I carry you in my heart.  What a great fast!

When we believe and follow Jesus there will be signs that accompany us.  We are told that when we lay hands on the sick they will recover.  We, by Jesus, have been given authority over demons, poisons, and sickness.  If these are signs that follow those who believe why are we not seeing them follow us?  I think it has to do with our lack of belief.  Do we believe that in the name of Jesus we can be healed?  God has power over all disease and He has told us to lay hands on the sick and they will recover.

Jas 5:14 – Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.

God is the one who does the healing but the word of God tells us to to lay hands on sick and anoint them with oil.  I think we should just do it and believe that He can and will heal.  Today as we are praying for healing I want you to meditate on a few things.

(1) Do you believe you have authority in the name of Jesus over all demons and sickness?

(2) Do you put that belief in action by laying hands on people and praying for them?

My challenge to you today is simply to ask someone if you can pray for them, and then lay hands on them and pray and believe God will do a miracle.

Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.  I think that we need to let the words of Jesus sink into our spirit.  There are so many people who do not know Jesus and there are so many people who are in need of the gospel.  We cannot ever think that the opportunity is not there but we must look at our willingness to labor.  We need laborers!  When it comes to spiritual labor we have to believe that part of that laboring is prayer.  We have to be a people who are willing to pray and work towards seeing others brought to Jesus.  When we know that Jesus is the only one to save man then we know that our evangelism must be cloaked in earnest prayer.  

Jesus tells His disciples to pray earnestly for more laborers.  Not only do we want the harvest but we need more people who are willing to labor in prayer and in work to see the harvest come in.  I think we need to listen to the words of Jesus and not only be laborers but pray for more.  It is very important for us to pray earnestly in this fast for the people who do not know Christ, and for more people to develop a love that motivates them to labor for the harvest.

Questions to think about:

1.  Are you laboring in prayer and action?

2.  What holds you back from laboring in prayer and action?

Mark 9:29  - So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

I was thinking about this verse as we are fasting and praying.  It’s interesting how there are certain demons that only come out when we starve our flesh and feed our spirits.  What is it about fasting and prayer that takes us to another level of authority?

Julio C. Ruibal said, “Our greatest victories are won on our knees and with empty stomachs.”

To turn from our wicked ways or to repent is usually a big part of our prayer life.  We know that when we have sin in our hearts, or lives, that there is a block between us and God.  Every time we come before Him (if we do) we are confronted with the ugliness of our sin.  Most of us cannot even focus in our prayer life if we know we have unrepented sin.  Many times I find my self praying like David.

Psalm 139: 23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

What I am learning about repentance is it is something that I have to continue in.  Not only do I need to continue in prayer all day and it is not just a one time event but I need to have my heart in a humble and repentant state on a continual basis.  I also need His Spirit to search me and show me sin otherwise I might excuse it and call it normal.  I cannot even know my sin unless the Holy Spirit and or the Word reveals it to me.

Romans 2:4 “Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?”

I am thankful that it is the kindness of God that leads me to repentance.  I thank Jesus for being patient with me and not destroying me but showing me mercy.  I not only need to repent but I want to because He is so kind and merciful.

Today ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any sin that is in you.  Ask Him to lead you to a hatred of your sin and a repentant heart.  Let Him do a work in your heart and lead you in the way of everlasting.  Think of the kindness of God and meditate on His mercy and let that lead you into repentance.

questions to meditate on…

(1) What is the biggest block in your spiritual life?

(2) What sins do you see in your life that you need to repent of?

(3) What do you deserve for all the sin you have committed and why have you not received what you deserve?  

(4) What kindness has God shown to you?

Psalm 70:4 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”

I love this verse.  When we know how much God did for us in salvation through Jesus then our response is to declare continually how great, big, and amazing He is.  ”Let God be magnified!”  I want that to be the declaration of this church as we start this fast.  I want our prayers to be drenched in the belief that God is big and He is greater then anything.

So let me give you some things to meditate on as we begin our fast…

(1) How big is God in your eyes?

(2) Do you believe that God is greater then anything?

Take time in your prayers today and just meditate on how big God is and spend time opening your mouth and declaring how big He is.  I pray for those of you that love the salvation of Jesus that we would continually stand on one declaration, “Let God be magnified!”

I just have to shout it from the blog posts.  I love Jesus, I can do nothing without Him, and He is my life!!!

What a crazy series. When I was planning for the series the Lord warned me that it was not going to cause people to start having sexual issues but the Light was going to come and sexual immorality was going to be exposed. One thing I can tell you about the Lord is that He never lies. I think I was up every night dealing with one person after another who wanted to be free from some sort of sexual immorality. I know that my leaders where dealing with multiple issues also. So that shows me one of a two things.

1. We have a lot of horny people in our church who have not dealt with sexual issues and our church is abnormal.
2. We are not that abnormal and most churches are not dealing with sexual immorality issues and deciding to just keep it under the rug.

I have to say I believe #2. I am so thankful that we did this series we want to be a church that desires a pure heart. In this house we will continue to confront sin and will endeavor not to cover sin. We will expose sin and cover repentant people. I hope that you where challenged and blessed by this series as much as I was.

We Raised $25,000 of the $30,000!!! What a awesome thing! Praise the LORD!!! We still have a few things to finish but we are in and we are loving it. We are still accepting donations but make sure to mark it building fund as we are not taking anymore special offerings for it. One more week until the opening day and God is really blessing. We are getting real close to completing but we have a big week of work ahead of us. It has been one real crazy month!!! People of the church have been giving hours upon hours to build out what is going to be a very amazing space. We are so blessed! It is really coming together. I cannot wait to see it all done and to rejoice in the completion of what has been a huge undertaking for just one month.

I wanted to first off thank all who have stretched and given above and beyond to get us to the place we are. We are very near to $22,000 which is a huge blessing in just three weeks. I am still amazed to see how God has put together people who are so amazing to give gifts ranging from 1 dollar up to 10,000 dollars and everything in between. Dana and I where talking the other night about this being the first time we have felt such overwhelming support from people who have done so much for us. So thank you!!! We only need $8,000 and we have reached our goal of $30,000 that is awesome. Thank you!!! and most of all THANK GOD!!!

If God has given us such leaders then we need to rise up to the standard that has been set and be willing to invest into our own soil. I believe we are going to see from the leaders and the local body the rest of the $18,000 come in. So please lets continue to pray and continue to be obedient. Let’s Stretch together!

Just wanted to write and testify what God is doing and give you an update. Love you all!

This letter comes to you with much excitement and mixed with that excitement is nervousness. Have you ever had that? Where you are so excited and nervous you are not sure where excitement ends and nervousness begins but it is all like washed together. I am overwhelmed with blessing but I am in need of help from as many people who can.

Ok here is what I am talking about… for the last 2 and half years we at life connection church have been praying for a new building location. Something that would be around 8,000 sq. feet and have more class space for our kids, seat about 250, have some offices, and something that would represent excellence a lot better. Every door that opened before seemed to close and so we would just turn from it believing that God would open a door and we would see Him work it out. The door has been opened to us!!! Our landlord came to us about 2 weeks ago and asked us to move to a bigger building just a block away from our current location and it is a great space with all that we were needing for this season. Because He came to us it gave us a lot of bargining power and we reached a deal that we are excited about. So we will moving into a new location Dec. 1 and have our opening service Dec. 2nd. THANK YOU, LORD!!!

Well all that is the exciting part and this is where nervousness meets excitement, but the peace of God passes all understanding. We need $30,000 this month for build out, furniture, decoration, media equipment, chairs, and the list could go on. This is where I am asking for your help. We need as many people who are in our lives on many different levels to give. If you know me at all you know that I hate writing letters like this because I do trust that God will provide but I also know that God provides through His people who are moved by His spirit to give. This is all I am asking, pray and ask God what to do, and do that! I know that it will help big time! I know many of you have helped us in the past and I am so thankful for your help and would not want to do anything that would offend you or push you away. If you feel like you should not give then by all means do not give, but If God’s spirit moves you to give then please do so as soon as possible.

I am very much missing you all, my babies, and my home. I am finished with what I was sent here to do and that is a good feeling. I leave tomarrow and I am soooooooooooooooooo ready! I Pray that all of you will be at church tomarrow and will prepare your hearts for what God has for you through brother Ralf.
