Lost Art of Hospitality (Part 3)

Gen 18:2 Get out of your house and reach out to others. Go running to serve them. Luke 10:27 Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, soul, and your neighbor as yourself. Ask yourself a question. Are you giving yourself or are you just giving your left overs with No sacrifice?

Thoughts

file_thumbview_approvephp.jpgI have a lot of strange thoughts. The people that know me can attest to that! Ever since we started this hospitality series it has been messing with my thoughts and causing me to view life through a different lens. Hospitality is a lens through which we can read and understand much of the gospels. When you look at how the church was built in Acts 2:46 you can see it was built on the backs of people who practiced Hospitality and opened their doors and their lives to the church and the unsaved. You look at Mark 6:7-13 Jesus had a plan and a method for evangelism get into a house in every city, if you can not find a home that will welcome you then shake the dust off and leave the city. The house was the key to winning the city!
Jesus was constantly where people where and in people’s lives. So put that lens on and think about how the gospel is being preached today… The gospel is mainly preached in pulpits and where church people are and not where “real” people are. Jesus spent most of his ministry out with people in their homes, in their boats, in their streets, basically in their lives. Sure He spoke in the temple but most of the time he did not get that great of a welcome. For some reason Jesus was more interested in being in the lives of people then in the pulpits of all the major temples.
I don’t know but I was just thinking maybe we have lost focus… Maybe we should spend more time where people are and less time hiding from them.

Lost Art of Hospitality (Part 2)

We need to go back to opening our life’s and our homes to our friends and our brother’s in Christ. Living like Christ and give your life to being hospitable and serving others.

OPEN Lives

bu005299.jpgI think that many believers prescreen relationships and have already many times decided who is condemned to hell with no chance of repentance and who has a good chance of being saved. So they spend a lot of time building relationships with people who they could see saved and not those who have no chance. God has really been working on me to open my life up in relationships. The best way to reach people is for them to be able to see how I live in everyday life not just to see me preach or at a church service. It is for them to be able to see me “doing life” with preaching and church services in context to the way I live. We can not have open lives towards people if we have built up walls of hurt or prejudice. I was reading this very interesting book about a christian and a athiest going to churches to rate the church and see what the athiest thought of the different churches. At one point in the book the christian asked the athiest what moved you most today and the atheist said “what moved me most today was talking over coffee with you.” That statement hit me big time they went to one of the greatest church services america has to offer and the thing that moved him the most was a guy who would sit across a table with him and share his life. I think the church has missed the power of relationship. The best witness of Christ is you (hopefully) and people will not be able to see it if you do not open your life in relationship.

Think about it,
PA

Lost Art of Hospitality (Part 1)

The Church has lost the importance of hospitality. We need to again look how Christ lived and follow his example. He showed us how we need to live our lives, not for our selfish selves but for others. Because we need to focus on the Kingdom.

VBS

I just went to VBS tonight and all I can say is “WOW!” This VBS is the best one I have ever seen in any church I have been a part of. I am so blessed to see Shauntelle and all these leaders rise up and really serve these children. Great job!!! Make sure if you have not taken your children to any of the nights that you pack them up for the next couple nights and take them over to have the time of their lives.

Thank You!

Dana and I just got home from my brothers wedding in CA. What a great time we had! I wanted to thank all of those that filled in for us while we where gone. I heard the service was great and that Jason Russell did a great Job preaching… I listened to the message and wow!! Real good word!
I missed you all so much while I was gone and I realized how very blessed I am to be apart of this church. We are on the right track and seeing many miracles along the way. We are BLESSED!!!
Make sure to come this Sunday as we begin our series The Lost Art of Hospitality. I look forward to seeing you and am ready for what God is going to do.

Love ya,
Pastor
